However, with Edge transitioning to entirely new technology, Microsoft plans on upgrading the appearance. Internet Explorer, of course, used an 'E' with a halo wrapped around the letter. When Edge arrived in 2015, the browser's logo acknowledged Internet Explorer's history by using an 'E' with a loop cutting through rather than around. The logo doesn't quite resemble an 'E' at all, and thus Microsoft finally departs from any relation to Internet Explorer. Currently, it's hidden within the Canary versions as a minigame. Microsoft will insert the new Edge logo across all platforms in the coming weeks, The Verge (Opens in a new window) reports. It's unclear when exactly the Chromium-based Edge browser starts rolling out, but the unveiling of this wave-inspired logo indicates an announcement should be made soon. Microsoft is preparing to release the final version based on Google's open-source Chromium technology, and it appears that Edge has gained a new logo as well. The Edge web browser looks a bit different now.
